I don’t work in sales.

Whether you consider yourself a salesperson or not, the lessons of sales are  incredibly valuable. They are the same lessons that will give you whatever  it is you want from your life.

I would maintain that everyone sells. If you’re married or in a  relationship, if you have kids, if you are a business owner, if you are an  employee, in fact, if you have a pulse, you are in a high-pitched sales  contest most of the time. Life is sales. And the members of your sales team  change as you change, depending on the phases of your life and the crisis  or situation at hand. 

If you work on a team, handling objections and convincing others is  a constant process. Dealing with your boss, your banker, your siblings,  vendors, collectors and the guy next door are all part of the sales process.
